Magazine Advert

The magazine advert is complete and has the similar look to the front of the CD cover, to create continuity, and also for the audience, they will recognise the band, giving more band awareness. It also helps to give the band an identity, and a theme that will remain with the band to help create a lasting representation.

CD Cover - Front and Back

This is the complete CD cover, we have made sure that we have included everything that is needed. This portrays the band as how they want to be portrayed; interesting, unique, and fun loving, appealing to there target audience.
We have also included all the conventional details as well:
- copyright logo
- barcode
- compact disc logo
- music records logo
- numbered songs
- name of the band and album

The image includes a number of features to help us get across the image the band wants. Mise-en-scene in the image such as the corporate business man falling gives a link to a rebellious theme with the band. This rebellious, fun and happy image is emphasised by the bright colours and sunny image, with the band having a good time in the image. This creats synergy in the product, all features coming together to create a purpose within the product.

Our back cover contrasts hugely with the front, creating a juxta position within the product. It is as opposite as possible to the front cover creating a contrasting product and showing two extremes of how the band often see themselves.

Magazine Advert and CD Cover

The magazine advert and CD cover are now complete. They both represent the band as how we, and the band want to be represented which we discussed earlier in the blog. We decided to go with the cartoon/real idea, on the CD cover this to have the band 'normal' on the front of the CD cover, with no effects added to them, with a cartoon background, then to have this opposite on the other side. We have done this to show fragmentation of society, to show how the band can be seen or represented differently. We also did this to emphasis that the band is unique to any other band, this is shown by the fact that the CD case is different, the concept of the band breaching the boundary from real life and cartoon shows how the band are unique in their ideas and enjoy living a hedonistic lifestyle, again which is shown though mixing the two different worlds.

The magazine advert has just a complete blue background which is different from the CD case, this is because when attracting the audience they see the band in one light, when buying the CD and listening the to the music they will realise how the the band is different.

Production

Music Video

The video is coming along well, we have successfully used cross cutting to go from the band to the narrative. We have edited it well so both the different parts fit in well together. We decided to film the band in a rehearsal and chose a loft to use to represent the band as down to earth, and different

Magazine Advert and CD Cover

The magazine advert and CD cover are looking good, we are nearly finished and have represented the band well though both of these. The representation matches the music video and we thought it was important to have the same theme through out all the products.
We have taken photos of the band and plan to crop them before adding them to our own cartoon background. Here is the image of our self made cartoon background for the front cover and magazine advert so far, it is a first draft though and is likely to change slightly:

The image below is our image of the band which we will add to the cartoon background to create a juxta position within our image using contrasting features:

Locations ||

The Odeon, Etruria

This is cinema we would use, we aren't sure whether to use this location as we don't want big name brands in the film. We also realize that filming in a cinema would be difficult!

Brough Park

This is the park area we want to use to, this area has all the stereotypical components a park should have. We would use this park towards the end of the film and it would look better lit up in the day as it doesn't have lights and we don't have any lights to lighten the characters and still keep the background dark.

Draft for Filming

We have realized that using different locations and also trying to show a time movement from one night to another that we need to film at a different times. We plan to use the weather and light/dark which will show time movement.

Final Idea

We have chosen to shoot the idea of "one man and his relationships". We felt this was both suiting to music video conventions and entertaining, as well as fitting the theme and style of the song.

It follows a young man, searching for a girl and being repeatedly turned down. It involves humour and an entertaining storyline, two key things we picked out from textual analysis on similar products.

We have been looking at certain locations and have narrowed it down:

- at home at table
- a bar
- a cafe
- cinema
- a park

We are going to use these locations because they stereotypical places that couples use to go out.

The main thing we want to get across is the fact that the girl doesn't like the boy and by the end of the song the boy gives up which matches the song lyrics.
